Residual Stress and Distortion

High-strength aluminum stock can move when large volumes are removed, especially in thin, asymmetric parts. Process planning may include balanced roughing, staged finishing, intermediate checks, stress-relieved plate or geometry changes. Five-axis machining does not eliminate material movement.

Finishing and Corrosion

Anodizing and other protection options are reviewed by alloy, temper, appearance and environment. Cosmetic color may differ from 6061 even under a similar finish callout. Define coating type, thickness, mask areas and acceptance sample where appearance matters.

Qualification Boundary
