CNC Machines and Measurable Part Capacity

This page identifies the equipment categories available to Formexi projects. Confirm the proposed machine category, model, work envelope and inspection route on the quotation for the actual part. A machine specification alone does not confirm feasibility: workholding, tool access, material stability and measurement must also be reviewed.

CNC machining workshop overview for Equipment List

CNC Milling

3-Axis Machining Centers

Used for plates, brackets, housings, fixtures, pockets, holes and accessible three-dimensional features.

4-Axis Machining

Considered for indexed multi-side work and rotary features where fewer setups improve consistency.

3+2 and 5-Axis Machining

Considered for angled features, compound contours and parts where tool orientation or setup reduction is material to the result.

Owned-versus-partner machine status and exact specifications remain subject to verification.

CNC Turning and Combined Processes

CNC lathes and turning centers support shafts, pins, bushings, sleeves, fittings and rotational components. Mill-turn and Swiss-type capacity is reviewed for parts requiring milled features or small-diameter repeat production. Maximum diameter, length and bar capacity will be added from verified machine records.

EDM, Grinding and Supporting Equipment

  • Wire EDM for conductive profiles and hardened components
  • Sinker EDM for conductive materials, deep cavities and difficult internal features
  • Surface grinding for precision reference surfaces
  • Cylindrical and internal grinding subject to diameter, length and bore review
  • Drilling, tapping, reaming and deburring for defined secondary features

Each process will be labeled as in-house or partner-supported after capability confirmation.

Why More Axes Are Not Always Better

A 5-axis machine is not automatically the most economical choice. Accessible geometry may be produced more efficiently on a 3-axis machine, while multi-axis machining becomes valuable when angled features, compound surfaces or setup-to-setup relationships justify the additional process. Formexi selects the process from the drawing rather than marketing every complex part as “5-axis.”

Our Review Method for CNC Machines and Measurable Part Capacity Requirements

When the buyer needs a supplier response tied to the actual part rather than a generic capability statement, a broad promise can leave geometry, material, quality, cost and delivery assumptions unresolved. For CNC Machines and Measurable Part Capacity, our engineering and quotation review turns the drawing and purchase requirement into documented process, inspection and approval questions before price or production is confirmed. This helps reduce rework, approval delays and avoidable purchasing cost without turning a screening assumption into a capability guarantee.

For the CNC Machines and Measurable Part Capacity buying decision, we confirm the route only after reviewing the controlled drawing and model, material, quantities, critical requirements, finish, quality documents, target date, destination and confidentiality needs. Any unresolved item is listed as an RFQ clarification so the buyer can compare scope, evidence, price and lead time on the same basis.
