Materials and Wear Components
Aluminum supports lightweight and quick-change fixtures; steel supports stiffness and wear; hardened or ground inserts control repeated contact; plastics protect cosmetic parts. Replaceable wear elements may reduce long-term maintenance cost.
Inspection Fixtures Need Validation
A measurement fixture must be correlated to an accepted measurement method. Define master parts, calibration, repeatability, gauge R&R or validation where applicable. A fixture that holds a part is not automatically a valid gauge.
