Optomechanical Hardware

CNC Machining for Optical Equipment Components

Formexi evaluates optical mounts, lens housings, instrument frames, adjustment parts and sensor interfaces where mechanical datums, angular relationships, thermal stability and low-reflectivity finishes matter. Mechanical inspection does not by itself verify optical performance.

Components Commonly Evaluated

  • Lens and mirror mounts
  • Camera and detector housings
  • Optical benches, bases and instrument frames
  • Adjustment stages and kinematic components
  • Sensor brackets and alignment adapters
  • Black-anodized internal baffles and covers Specify the governing process type or class, thickness or dimensional effect, masking and acceptance criteria for the actual project.

Mechanical Requirements That Affect Optical Alignment

Requirement Manufacturing focus
Optical-axis relationship Translate optical intent into physical datums.
Lens/mirror seat Diameter, roundness, shoulder and retention.
Kinematic contact Geometry, hardness and surface condition.
Thermal stability Material expansion and inspection temperature.
Stray-light control Black finish, texture, masking and system validation.

Materials and Finishes

Aluminum supports lightweight structures and black anodizing; stainless or steel supports stiffness; copper supports selected thermal needs; low-expansion or specialty materials require sourcing and machining review. Finish reflectivity must be defined by test or approved sample where critical.

Cleanliness and Handling

Specify particle, residue, fingerprint and packaging requirements. General CNC cleaning is not optical-grade cleaning or cleanroom handling. Optical surfaces supplied by the customer require defined protection and responsibility.

Performance Boundary

Formexi can verify approved mechanical dimensions. Wavefront, focus, stray light, optical-axis accuracy and calibrated system performance require specialized assembly/testing unless separately confirmed.
